Will Groeneveld, has grain farmed in the Mannville area for 40 years. Since 2018, he has included perennial forages, grain intercrops and summer & winter grazing in an effort to improve both his soil and farm resiliency. The learning continues…

Kevin Elmy, PAg and celebrated author of “Cover Cropping in Western Canada” and “Not Just Dirt,” will offer his extensive knowledge on cover cropping and soil health, emphasizing the benefits of diverse forage blends.

Lynne Girardin, PAg and Consulting Ruminant Nutritionist, will share how to incorporate poly crops into beef rations, what to look for, what to expect for cow and calf performance, and what the benefits are to the animals and the ground they walk on.

Chris Elder is a Lakeland College graduate and the ALUS Program Coordinator in the County of Vermilion River, where he provides technical and financial support to local agricultural producers to develop, implement, and manage environmental stewardship projects on their land.

Dr. Yamily Zavala has managed the Chinook Applied Research Association’s crop and soil program for the past seven years and now manages the Soil Health lab. Prior to joining the CARA staff, she was a crop production consultant based out of Ottawa where project work took her to Central and South America as well as points in the south and west of Africa. Early in her career, Yamily was a Soil Scientist for the National Agricultural Research Foundation at the Táchira State Research Center in Venezuela.
