As agricultural producers, you’ve probably heard at least one person in your circle say something along the lines of “I wish we got reimbursed for our positive environmental impacts.” Maybe you’ve even had the thought yourself. It sure would be nice to be rewarded for being environmentally beneficial. It’s great to see our land flourish, but our bottom lines need to work out too. What are some of the options available to receive compensation and what is in the works for the future? Join us and Carrie Selin of EcoServices Network to discuss the Grasslands Conservation Exchange pilot and how they and the Western Stock Growers Association are working towards developing a viable, market-based solution that will help conserve valuable ecosystem and provide incentives to ranchers for the land management decisions they make to sustain and regenerate them. This is a good chance to learn about ecosystem goods and services and some of the work being done in this sector right now. We’ll also hear from Alberta farmers that are benefitting from implementing ecosystem services right now.
