Rural Routes to Climate Solutions (RR2CS) shines a spotlight on the climate solutions that Alberta’s farmers, ranchers and rural communities can benefit from. RR2CS is seeking a Communications Coordinator to help share practical stories, resources and updates across our digital channels.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys writing, organizing content and supporting communications work across a small but busy remote team. You’ll help manage RR2CS’ social media, newsletter, website updates, event promotion and project communications support — making sure our stories are clear, timely and easy for our audiences to connect with.
While this is a remote position, applicants must reside in Alberta, Canada.
Key responsibilities:
The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for the following activities:
- Creating, scheduling and posting social media content across RR2CS’ channels
- Supporting the development and distribution of email newsletters and other digital updates
- Writing, editing and publishing website content, including blog posts, event pages and project updates
- Supporting event promotion by preparing promotional materials and coordinating communications activities
- Providing communications support to project teams, including drafting, editing and formatting content as needed
- Copy editing communications materials to ensure they are clear, accurate and aligned with RR2CS’ tone and messaging
- Coordinating with external contractors or partners, such as designers, printers or website support, when needed
- Helping track basic communications metrics, such as newsletter performance, website activity and social media engagement
- Supporting regular communications reporting by gathering updates, metrics and examples of completed work
- Providing general communications support to the team as needed
About Rural Routes to Climate Solutions:
Rural Routes to Climate Solutions (RR2CS) is a nonprofit organization established in 2017 to help rural Albertans explore and benefit from climate solutions. We believe these solutions offer more than reducing emissions—they also strengthen resilience to extreme weather, improve soil health, protect biodiversity, support energy independence and create new opportunities for rural communities.
Our approach is community-driven, rooted in a made-in-Alberta perspective that makes climate conversations practical and respectful of rural realities. We remove barriers by creating space for producers and communities to identify solutions that work for them and we share inspiring stories that show the real benefits of action.
Currently, we focus on agriculture in Alberta, providing opportunities for producers through two main avenues: participant-driven projects and accessible learning resources. We are a small, collaborative team that values creativity, openness and respect and we work closely with producers, partners and communities across the province to turn ideas into action.
Who you are:
You’re the kind of person who enjoys turning ideas, updates and project activities into clear, engaging communications. You like writing, editing and organizing content, and you understand that good communications help people connect with the work in a meaningful way.
You can move between social media posts, newsletters, website updates, blog content, event promotion and team requests without losing track of the details. You’re organized, dependable and comfortable juggling a mix of recurring tasks and one-off communications needs.
You communicate clearly and thoughtfully. Whether you’re drafting a newsletter, writing or editing a blog post, preparing event materials or supporting a project team with communications, you know how to keep the tone friendly, professional and easy to understand.
You work well independently in a remote environment, but you also know when to ask questions, flag an issue or keep others in the loop. You take accuracy seriously and understand that clear, consistent communications help strengthen RR2CS’ relationships with farmers, ranchers, partners and rural communities.
If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
