A Day In The Field: Grazing, Grains and Growth

YOur invited!

Join us on October 15th 2025 for a day of learning, connection and practical insights into regenerative agriculture. This is our second field day at Will’s farm in Mannville, following the success of last October’s gathering.

The morning begins with presentations at Mannville Riverview Golf Course, where you’ll hear from some leading voices in soil health, livestock nutrition and livestock integration in cropping systems:

  • Derek McKenzie – soil scientist at the University of Alberta, brings deep expertise on what’s happening under our feet
  • Chris Elder– ALUS Program Coordinator (Vermillion County), will share insights on managing unproductive and saline areas in cropping systems
  • Lynn Girardin – from Beef Smart, will explore the connection between soil, polycultures and cattle nutrition

Also hear updates from our Regenerative Agriculture Lab manager.

After lunch and refreshments at the golf course, we’ll be heading out into Will Groeneveld’s fields

  • Will Groeneveld – a grain farmer working closely with cattle producers, will talk us through his operation and demonstrate how grazing and cropping systems work together
  • Kevin Elmy – cover cropping expert, author and regenerative advocate will cover polycropping in grain rotations, incorporating livestock and building soil health

Expect hands-on learning, discussions on livestock integration and a chance to see regenerative practices in action.

This event is designed for farmers, ranchers and anyone curious about how regenerative approaches can improve both land and livestock.
